09/2020 - The end of an era

In June 2020, Sandra Schmid moved from UT Southwestern to San Francisco to become the inaugural CSO of the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub in San Francisco. As such, she will: 1) align the research efforts in cell biology and infectious disease with state-of-the-art technology platforms (microscopy, data science, genomics, mass spec, bioengineering) to work towards the 100-year mission of "CZ initiative" to ‘cure or manage all human disease by the end of the century”, and 2) mentor and assist in the career development of the young scientists that are driving discoveries at the Biohub. Although she remains an adjunct member of the UTSW faculty, her own research at UTSW is winding down and will end once the remaining postdocs have finished their projects. This will be the end of an era!
