Students and Postdoctoral Scholars
Syed Taskeen Rahman, B.Sc.
Graduate Student
Taskeen completed his B.Sc from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology in 2019 and is now a Bioengineering PhD student at the University of Texas at Dallas. His research interest lies in the application of Statistical and Deep Learning techniques in Biomedical Imaging. He enjoys reading and playing soccer.
Jonathan X. Zhou, B.Eng.
Graduate Student
Jonathan X. Zhou is a PhD student in biomedical engineering at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in PET imaging with a focus on image reconstruction, quantitative analysis, and the application of deep learning techniques to advance healthcare. He also possesses research experience in other medical imaging modalities, including MRI. Jonathan earned his B.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering from Nanjing University in 2024. He also conducted research at National Taiwan University and the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging as a visiting undergraduate in 2023. Outside of academia, he enjoys writing and hiking, combining analytical precision with creative and outdoor pursuits.
Sima Lotfimarangloo, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Researcher
Dr. Lotfimarangloo completed her Ph.D. in Physics and Applied Physics at the University of Texas at Arlington in December 2023. Her research focused on the measurement, modeling, and analysis of the energy spectra of electrons and annihilation gammas resulting from low-energy positron irradiation of clean and adsorbate-covered surfaces. She also developed surface characterization enhancement via Doppler broadening gamma spectroscopy and cutting-edge machine learning classification techniques, as well as Monte Carlo analysis of the contributions of long-lived positronium. Her research interests include attenuation and scatter correction in PET imaging. In her free time, she enjoys reading, swimming, and watching movies.
