Zhijian ‘James’ Chen was elected to the National Academy of Medicine

Dr. Chen was elected to the National Academy of Medicine for discovering the DNA sensing enzyme cGAS and its product cGAMP and discovering MAVS, which mediates immune defense against RNA viruses. The molecular biology department held a reception to celebrate his election to the National Academy of Medicine.
