Meet the PI

Leo F. Buckley, PharmD, MPH

Leo F. Buckley, PharmD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology and Core Faculty in the Translational Cardiovascular Epidemiology Research (TraCER) Unit at UT Southwestern. He is a pharmacist-scientist with advanced training in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, mechanistic clinical trials, and molecular population science. His research program focuses on identifying novel pathways and therapeutic strategies for the primary prevention of heart failure, integrating large-scale proteomics, genomics, and clinical epidemiology to translate biologic discoveries into interventions with public health impact.

Dr. Buckley has led or contributed to nearly a dozen investigator-initiated mechanistic clinical trials and has published extensively in leading cardiovascular and epidemiology journals. His collaborative, cross-disciplinary work spans cardiology, nephrology, systems biology and population health and is supported by the NIH, American Society of Nephrology and the BWH Khoury Innovation Fund. He maintains a clinical pharmacy practice in the heart failure and cardiomyopathy clinic at UT Southwestern.

Current Lab Members

Subbaramireddy Remala, MS

Data Scientist

Subbaramireddy is a bioinformatics researcher with a strong background in biotechnology and genomics, holding a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics. His research focuses on analysing whole-genome sequencing data to understand the genetic basis of cardiometabolic and kidney diseases and to identify predictors of therapeutic response. He has experience working with large-scale population datasets such as the All of Us Research Program and UK Biobank, applying statistical genetics and computational methods to integrate genomic and clinical data. Subbaramireddy is passionate about advancing precision medicine through translational genomics and aspires to pursue a PhD in Bioinformatics in the future. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis.
