Our First NINDS R01

Congratulations to Dr. Pinto and Dr. Moralez for getting their first NINDS R01 was funded! We will be studying how autonomic nervous system dysfunction contributes to changes in cerebrovascular auto regulation and long-term outcomes after TBI.

OBI Clinical Neuroscience Scholar

Dr. Shanti Pinto, M.D., investigator for the North Texas Traumatic Brain Injury Model System (NTXTBIMS), has been named the University of Texas Southwestern 2023 O’Donnell Brain Institute Clinical Neuroscience Scholar. This prestigious award is presented to only one clinical researcher per year and offers support for both salary and for developing research and specialty clinical programs. Dr. Pinto is only the 3rd named scholar. Her research program is linked to the work supported by the TBI Model System exploring autonomic nervous system function after moderate to severe TBI and its link to cardiovascular and cardiometabolic health/disease over time.
