Robin B. Jarrett, Ph.D.

Robin B. Jarrett, Ph.D., Director of the Psychosocial Research and Depression Clinic, Professor of Psychiatry, and Elizabeth H. Penn Professorship in Clinical Psychology, is an internationally known clinical investigator and licensed (clinical) psychologist whose research program examines the effect of psychosocial factors, including intervention, on the course of mood and related disorders. Since its inception, her laboratory has been a training ground for colleagues, ranging from undergraduates to faculty members.

Dr. Jarrett and her team appreciate decades of funding from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) for peer-reviewed projects beginning in 1989, including an Independent Scientist Award and Mid-Career Investigator Award. Dr. Jarrett serves on NIH/NIMH Review committees. She is widely published and is sought for lectures both nationally and internationally. At UT Southwestern, Dr. Jarrett serves on the faculty (beginning in 1984-present), the Institutional Review Board (IRB; 1987-2001), directed the Conflict of Interest (COI) Office (1996-2012), chaired the COI Committee (1995-2016), and served as a member of the Promotion and Tenure Committee (2001-2015). She continues to supervise trainees in cognitive therapy and research (1985-present).

Dr. Jarrett was honored to study as a Fourjay Scholar at the Beck Institute. Dr. Jarrett is Diplomate, Founding Fellow, Certified Consultant, and Trainer within the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT).

Dr. Jarrett is a graduate of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) for Women Program, which is a fellowship dedicated to preparing senior women faculty for positions of institutional leadership at schools of medicine, dentistry, and public health.

Dr. Jarrett’s lifetime, professional accomplishments are recognized with Fellow status by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
