Advanced Dry Eye Specialty Clinic

Expert care for dry eye disease

The Advanced Dry Eye Specialty Clinic at UT Southwestern offers innovative diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with chronic systemic disease, or moderate to severe rosacea, who have been diagnosed with dry eye disease (DED) that has not responded to traditional at-home therapies like hot eye compresses and artificial tears.

DED affects over 16 million adults in the United States, and is characterized by the inability to make enough tears, or to make tears that evaporate (go away) too quickly. Serious, chronic cases of DED related to systemic diseases can significantly decrease patients' quality of life.

If your patients is living with a dermatological disease, such as moderate to severe rosacea, or a chronic systemic disease like diabetes, Sjögren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue disorder, systemic lupus erythematosus, or other autoimmune disorder, and their dry eye has not improved after at-home therapies, they may be a candidate for treatment at the Advanced Dry Eye Specialty Clinic.
