This kinase family is so different from canonical kinases that it was not included as a branch on the human kinome tree.

We seek to understand the functional consequences of secreted protein phosphorylation. Many of these phosphoproteins are present in blood.

Secreted kinases play important roles in many biological processes, such as bone growth, wound healing, lipid homeostasis, and cancer.

We use biochemical and genetic approaches to study the role of secreted kinases in human health and disease.
