Heart-Brain Connection Program

About

Welcome to the Heart-Brain Connection (HBC) Program, a groundbreaking interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to advancing our knowledge of cognitive aging and dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. Our primary objectives are to uncover the underlying mechanisms driving cognitive impairments, identify novel therapeutic targets for cognitive disorders, and explore innovative approaches to improve the care provided to older adults facing cognitive challenges.

Working at UT Southwestern, our program brings together leading experts from various fields, including aging, cardiology, vascular biology, cognitive neurology, neuroimaging, neuropsychology, biomedical engineering, and bioinformatics. This synergistic collaboration allows us to comprehensively investigate the impact of cardiovascular factors on the development and progression of cognitive impairments and dementia.

Ultimately, we strive to develop effective therapies and evidence-based programs that will significantly enhance the quality of life for individuals and patients dealing with cognitive impairments and related disorders.
