The research of the Huang Laboratory focuses on understanding the function of fibroblast progenitor cells and fibroblasts in regulating the immune system. To address this question, we will employ novel in vitro and in vivo models, lineage tracing techniques and single-cell multiomics. Our ultimate goal is to develop novel therapeutic strategies that can specifically target fibroblasts in the settings of fibrotic diseases, autoimmune diseases and cancer.
We have multiple ongoing research directions:
- Understand the immune-regulating mechanisms of fibroblasts
- Identify novel signaling pathways that determine the cell fate and function of fibroblasts
- Understand the crosstalk between fibroblasts and cancer cells
- Develop novel therapeutic tools that target fibroblasts
