Rodney Infante, M.D., Ph.D.

Assistant Professor,
Center for Human Nutrition
Molecular Genetics

Rodney E. Infante obtained his MD, Ph.D. in 2012 from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where he studied intracellular lipid trafficking under the tutelage of Drs. Michael Brown and Joseph Goldstein.

After completing clinical training in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, he returned to UT Southwestern for a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology.  He has now joined the faculty in the Center for Human Nutrition with secondary appointments in the Department of Molecular Genetics and the Department of Internal Medicine.  His lab is interested in the molecules and mechanisms that cause cachexia-associated adipose wasting associated with oncologic, liver, infectious, and rheumatologic diseases. By understanding the mechanisms that underlie adipose loss in cachexia, his lab plans to identify new treatments for cachexia patients while also providing insights to induce adipose loss in obesity.
