Mark Lab

Could protein quality control facilitate normal cellular processes and pathways critical for early metazoan development?

The Mark Lab seeks to understand how the posttranslational modification ubiquitin regulates multisubunit protein complexes involved in gene expression during early development, and how failure of these cellular pathways culminate in disease. We have developed reagents for the affinity-based purification of ubiquitylated proteins as well as use a combination of biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology to reveal the underlying mechanisms of human ailments, including cancer and neurodegeneration.
