Chieko Mineo, Ph.D.

Dr. Chieko Mineo received both her B.S and Ph.D. in Pharmacology from University of Tokyo. She received post-doctoral training in Cell Biology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Mineo joined the faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2002. She is a member of the Genetics, Development and Disease Ph.D. Program.

Mineo/Shaul Lab uses a wide array of tools in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and genetics to determine the mechanisms underlying pathogenesis of cardiovascular and metabolic disorders associated with dyslipidemia, obesity, and autoimmunity.

Signaling by scavenger receptor BI (SR-BI), the high affinity receptor for HDL.
Signaling by C-reactive protein (CRP) and IgG receptors (Fc receptors).
Signaling by antiphospholipid (aPL) antibodies.
Vascular and metabolic functions of Scavenger Receptor BI (SR-BI).
Pathogenic roles of IgG sialylation and endothelial IgG receptors in the metabolic syndrome.
Pathogenesis of the Antiphospholipid Syndrome.
