Meet the Principle Investigator

Dan (Amanda) Tong, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Tong received her medical degree from the Tongji Medical College in China and her Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario in Canada. After finishing a research fellowship at the Harvard Medical school, she completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Iowa, followed by a fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center, training in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Tong is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UTSW. As a physician-scientist, her research and clinical interests are focused on cardiovascular conditions that are tightly associated with metabolic diseases, particularly heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and atrial fibrillation (AF).
