Emre Turer grew up in Las Vegas, NV, and earned both his B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from UCLA. He then completed his MD/PhD training in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Chicago, where he studied the negative regulation of NF-κB and developed a strong interest in inflammatory bowel disease and innate immune signaling. After moving to Dallas and joining UT Southwestern, he completed a clinical fellowship in gastroenterology and a postdoctoral research fellowship in the laboratory of Bruce Beutler.
Since 2017, the Turer Lab has focused on innate immunity in the intestine and host–microbe interactions.
