Dr. Dawn M. Wetzel is a physician-scientist at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She received her M.D., Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis studying Toxoplasma and furthered her clinical training in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases at Columbia and Yale Universities, respectively. During her postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University, she focused on Leishmania pathogenesis. She now runs a basic and translational scientific research laboratory that concentrates on host-pathogen interactions and drug discovery for trypanosomatid parasites, including Leishmania. She also sees patients at Children’s Health/Children’s Medical Center Dallas as a Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist.
