Escitalopram in Asthma Patients With Frequent Exacerbation

About the Study

Previous research studies suggested that escitalopram (an antidepressant also known as Lexapro or Cipralex) can improve asthma symptoms in people who were depressed. The purpose of this study is to determine if escitalopram (the study drug) is associated with fewer asthma attacks requiring oral corticosteroid use than placebo (inactive ingredient) in people who have not been diagnosed with depression who have moderate to severe asthma with frequent asthma exacerbation.
