Postdoctoral research position in the Fiolka lab

A full-time postdoctoral researcher position at the Fiolka Laboratory at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas is open for applications. The position to be filled encompasses the development and testing of new light-sheet microscopy technologies, in particular oblique plane microscopes. The new microscope will be directly employed in collaborative research programs in basic cell biology and biomedical research.

An applicant should have completed a PhD in the field of physics or engineering. Experience in the field of optics, ideally microscopy, is beneficial. Programming experience in one of the languages Matlab, Python or C++ is helpful, and we also offer nano courses and bootcamps to strengthen programming skills.

In the Lyda Hill Department of Bioinformatics, we have established an interdisciplinary and open research environment. As such, the postdoctoral position will be embedded in the Fiolka (optical theory and design), Dean (application of microscopy, labeling, chemistry, sample preparation) and Danuser lab (computer vision, cancer cell biology). The postdoctoral researcher will have full access to the physical, computational, and intellectual resources of each lab. Further collaborations leveraging the microscope across UT Southwestern, and the US have been fostered, and are expected to continue.

UT Southwestern Medical Center is committed to an educational and working environment that provides equal opportunities and prohibits discrimination of any sort. Postdoctoral pay is internationally competitive, with a base salary of $72,000, and a $20,000 annual bonus for candidates who secure an independent fellowship (e.g., NIH F32). We will mentor and assist in the designing and writing fellowship proposals. Postdoctoral researchers receive retirement benefits, health, dental, and vision insurance (with excellent rates for dependents) and have access to on-campus childcare and dedicated resources for career planning.
