Dr. Galia obtained her Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel and completed her postdoctoral training at UMass Chan Medical School. Dr. Galia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology.

Vy Tran received her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, where she investigated targeted nanoparticle-based drug and gene delivery strategies for cardiovascular disease.

Shaked Nir Heyman, M.S.

Research Associate

Shaked received her M.S. in Molecular Genetics from Tel Aviv University, Israel, where her research focused on investigating the roles of different replicative DNA polymerases in DNA replication and DNA repair pathways using yeast as a model organism.

Dr. Shaika Shanbagh headshot

Shaika Shanbagh, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow

Shaika obtained her PhD degree in Diabetic Retinopathy, focusing on the role of microRNA in DR, from GROW Research Lab at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore, India. Shaika joined the Galia lab in March 2024 and is currently delving into the intricate world of lncRNAs, exploring their role in regulating interorganelle communication to control metabolism pathways and maintain tissue homeostasis.

Garima Yadav, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow

Garima graduated with a doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India. Her Ph.D. research focused on investigating the role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in Glioblastoma, aiming to understand their functional relevance and therapeutic potential in this aggressive brain tumor.

Abigail Zellmer

Graduate Student

Abigail graduated from University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor's in Biological Sciences and worked in industry and as an academic research technician before starting graduate school in August 2024. She is currently a part of the Immunology Graduate Program.
