Our postdocs, Hashini Wanniarachchi and Bushra Afzal, recently participated in the One Health Collaborative Symposium, generously sponsored by the UT Southwestern Medical Center CTSA Program and Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. The symposium, themed "Leveraging Translational Research with One Health: Connecting Humans, Animals, and the Environment," provided a platform for cutting-edge discussions at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.
Hashini Wanniarachchi presented a compelling poster demonstrating that the combination of the Vascular Disrupting Agent (OXi8007) with Belzutifan (PT2977) exhibits promising long-term benefits in pre-clinical orthotopic kidney tumor models.
On the other hand, Bushra Afzal showcased her research through a poster highlighting the use of Multi-Spectral Optoacoustic Tomography (MSOT) for imaging Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) in mice. This innovative approach opens new avenues for understanding and addressing PAD, a critical health concern.
Their participation in this symposium not only underscores their dedication to advancing research but also reinforces the importance of collaborative efforts in the broader context of translational medicine. We look forward to witnessing the impact of their work on the convergence of health sciences across different domains.
