CACTUS Members Create Teaching Cases for Ultrasound Learners

With ultrasound students prevented from completing their needed clinical experiences due to the COVID-19 lockdown in Dallas, CACTUS rose to the occasion. Team members constructed presentations of clinical cases that included key images and teaching points to supplement the education students who would have otherwise been learning on campus.

CACTUS Members Host Radiology Resident Ultrasound Boot Camp

Faculty and technical experts of CACTUS hosted the first-annual ultrasound boot camp for the first-year residents of the Department of Radiology. The boot camp involved scanning on a variety of advanced ultrasound devices, scanning each other and on phantoms, focusing on appropriate transducer use, scanner knobology, and image optimization. An intro to contrast-enhanced ultrasound, elastography, and ultrasound-guided biopsies was also provided.

CUH Now Offers CEUS Antegrade Nephrostography

Clements University Hospital begins offering contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) antegrade nephrostography for post-operative patients who recently underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for kidney stone extraction. CEUS has been shown to be a rapid, cost-effective, and accurate alternative to fluoroscopy, saving patients radiation exposure and discomfort associated with traditional post-operative imaging.
