Research Technician
Requirements/Job Description: This position includes experimental responsibilities as well as laboratory maintenance duties in a biomaterial and infection laboratory. Candidates should be enthusiastic about learning how to synthesize and characterize new biomaterials and evaluate these biomaterials in models of infection. Experiments may include live animal work. Ideal candidates will have prior bench laboratory experience including sterile technique, tissue culture, animal work, and keeping a laboratory notebook. Individuals interested in careers in biomedical research, the medical device industry, or medicine are encouraged to apply. Postdoctoral Fellow
Requirements/Job Description: A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Alex Tatara, in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study the interface of host immunity, bacterial pathogenesis, and biomaterial properties involved in device-related infection. The Tatara Lab has several exciting projects related to development of next-generation vaccines to prevent device infection, synthesis of controlled drug delivery for antimicrobial and immune-boosting therapeutics, and understanding of mechanobiology at device surfaces. Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. Experience in immunology (including cellular assays and flow cytometry) or related fields leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals is recommended. Established laboratory experience with cell culture and rodent models is required.
