Interventional psychiatry is treatment that combines brain stimulation with medication for difficult-to-treat mental health disorders. At UT Southwestern Medical Center, our psychiatrists have advanced training and expertise in caring for people with treatment-resistant mental health disorders.

We specialize in the latest advances in brain stimulation to bring relief to people who haven’t had success with traditional treatments.

LoBue Lab

Description

Dr. LoBue's BRAIN lab, short for Brain Aging, Injury, and Modulation Lab, has two lines of research in the area of aging and neurodegenerative diseases. The lab investigates the later-in-life effects of traumatic brain injury, which involves understanding the potential risk associated with developing dementia and the underlying biological pathways. The lab also studies the effects of noninvasive brain stimulation in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders with the goal of informing the development of new treatments.

Trivedi Lab (CDRC)

Description

The Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care (CDRC) is nationally recognized for its cutting-edge research in unipolar and bipolar depression. The research conducted within the center brings better understanding of the causes of depression, identifies effective new treatments, and improves existing ones.

McAdams Lab

Description

The McAdams Lab at UT Southwestern uses neuroimaging and behavioral measures to investigate the connections between social, psychological, and biological aspects of eating disorders.

Jarrett Lab

Description

Dr. Robin Jarrett’s Psychosocial Research and Depression Clinic aims to understand how psychosocial factors influence health in mood and related disorders.

Brown Lab

Description

Dr. Brown's Psychoneuroendocrine Research Program (PNE) at UT Southwestern Medical Center focuses on two different areas of research: substance abuse, particularly dual diagnoses (e.g., depression or bipolar disorder); and the effects of corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone) on mood and memory.

Tamminga Lab

Description

The lab investigates the nature and treatment of cognitive deficits commonly seen in schizophrenia and related disorders.
