Wei Lab

Fighting against Childhood cancer

Research Statement

Dr. Wei leads a “humid” research team to describe pediatric solid tumor heterogeneity using single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics. Wei Lab aims to develop techniques to characterize the regulatory networks that are critical in permitting cell state transitions in these cancers. Dr. Wei hopes to translate bench findings to future precision medicine techniques that combat therapy resistance, tumor recurrence, and metastasis - the major causes for fatality in young cancer patients.

Research Topics

  • Targeting persister cells in rhabdomyosarcomas

  • Identification of novel fusion oncogenes in pediatric solid tumors

  • Precision immunotherapy for pediatric cancer patients
