Christoph Zechner, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Zechner is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology of the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He has secondary appointments in the Department of Pharmacology and as Faculty Scholar in the Pak Center for Mineral Metabolism and Clinical Research.
Dr. Zechner was raised in the southwestern corner of Germany, near the borders of Switzerland and France. He earned both his medical degree and doctorate in biomedical sciences from Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg. His postdoctoral research took place at Washington University in St. Louis and the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute in Lake Nona, Florida. He later completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at UT Southwestern through the Physician Scientist Training Program. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Zechner joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2014, where he leads a basic science lab focused on uncovering the molecular mechanisms that regulate cellular phosphate homeostasis in mammalian cells.
