Current Lab Members

Henne lab trainees are part of a vibrant and trainee-focused lab. Past students and post-docs have earned highly competitive fellowships and travel awards including the Norton B. Gilula Award (two winners in 2019 and 2022), the Leita Marsh Scholarship, AHA Predoctoral Fellowships, Ford Foundation Fellowships, F32 Post-doctoral fellowships, or HHMI Leading Edge Fellow awards. Four past students have earned NSF Honorable Mentions, and several have earned spots on T32 program grants

Emma Reynolds

(Research Assistant I, 2020-present): using mammalian cells to study the organization of metabolism.

Chetana Jadhav

(Grad student, 2021-present): using Drosophila to study lipid storage and homeostasis. While in Henne Lab she has also received an NSF Fellowship Honorable Mention.

Kaitlynn Gov

(Grad student, 2022-present): using yeast to study inter-organelle lipid transport. While in Henne Lab she has also received an NSF Honorable Mention.

Rupali Ugrankar, Ph.D.

(Research Assistant Professor, 2016-present): using Drosophila to study the organization of lipid metabolism.

Lab Alumni

Alumni post-docs from the Henne lab have gone on to secure faculty positions in academia, or industry scientist posts. Alumni graduate students have secured highly competitive post-doc positions. We also have a track record for training technicians that join highly competitive graduate programs at Cornell University, UPenn, and others

Holly Merta, Ph.D.

(Post-doc) 2020-2025: now a faculty at Wharton College. While in the Henne lab, Holly won a F32 Post-doctoral Fellowship, and was a 2024 HHMI Leading Edge fellow.

Ryan Feathers

(Lab technician, 2015-2018): now a graduate student at Cornell, lab of Chris Fromme, and a Ford Foundation Fellowship awardee.

Sanchari Datta, Ph.D.

(Grad student, 2016-2020): now a research scientist at MIT's Broad Institute. While in Henne Lab she was awarded the Norton B. Gilula Travel Award winner, AHA Fellowship winner, and was a Leita March Scholarship awardee. See CMB Program interview.

Jade Bowerman

(Lab technician, 2017-2021): now a graduate student at Cornell University.

 

Natalie Ortiz

(Grad student, 2017-2023): now a Post-doc at Neal Alto lab UTSW. While in Henne Lab she received a 2022 Norton B. Gilula Travel Award winner and was a T32 CMB program trainee.

Sean Rogers, Ph.D.

(Grad student, 2017-2021): now doing a post-doc in David Pagliarini's lab, and while in Henne Lab he has also received NSF Fellowship Honorable Mention and was a T32 Molecular Biophysics program Trainee. See the highlight of his Ph.D. work in Elife.

Blessy Paul, Ph.D.

(Post-doc, 2019-2024): now a Senior Research Scientist at Texas Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center

Anastasiia Kovalenko

(Visiting scholar, 2020-2022): now a graduate student at ETH institute, Zurich, Switzerland.

Son Tran

(Lab technician, 2021-2024): now a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania.

Ezgi Nihal Wood

Ezgi Wood (post-doc): Ezgi used cell segmentation and time-lapse imaging to understand cell fate and decision making (see her Cell Reports paper here). Now a scientist at Bristol Myers Squibb. 

Lydia Yang Liu, Ph.D

(2015-2018) Now a media specialist focusing o US-China news.
