Imaging of bone mass and metabolism by mCT and mPET

In preclinical we use a combination of genetic mouse models and advanced imaging methods, such microCT and microPET, to understand how gonadal hormones regulate bone mass and bone metabolism. Shown below are microCT images of femurs from WT and aromatase (estrogen synthase) deficient (ArKO) mice. Images of an ArKO mouse femur (A, C, E) show less trabecular bone than images of a WT mouse femur (B, D, F).
