Real-time X-ray imaging is performed to facilitate loco-regional delivery of nanotherapies to tumors. This technique is primarily used for the treatment of liver tumors. During this procedure a minimally invasive micro-catheter approach is used to access the abdominal and hepatic vasculature, thereafter X-ray contrast media is introduced to delineate the blood vessels feeding the liver and tumor. Upon fluoroscopic confirmation of microcatheter placement, therapeutic agents are seamlessly administered in the local tumor environment.
