The molecular biology and instrumentation laboratory has three and a half bays with five fully equipped benches, a 3-foot fume hood, a Promo BioDoc-It2 Imaging system (UVP Inc), a Max Q shaker, and a Heratherm compact microbiological incubator (ThermoFisher), a C1000 Touch Thermal cycler (Bio-Rad), and DNA/RNA/protein electrophoresis systems (VWR and Bio-Rad).
There are also a walk-in cold room and a walk-in hot room for bacterial culture and all necessary equipment to analyze tissue and cells. It also has eight desks to accommodate trainees.
The instrumentation side is equipped with an Acuson Sequoia S512 ultrasound system (Siemens Medical Solutions) equipped with 9L4 and 15L8 imaging transducers for in vitro and in vivo ultrasound imaging, including CPS for microbubble-specific imaging. It also has a Vantage 256 programmable ultrasound system equipped with L11-4v and L22-14v transducers (Verasonics Inc). Other equipment includes 25 W and 100 W broadband radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers (Electronics and Innovation), a multichannel digital oscilloscope (Tektronix), a two-channel arbitrary function generator (Tektronix), an assortment of single element focused and unfocused transducers, a precision flow pump (Cole Parmer) and a vascular flow phantom (ATS Labs).
